Laundry day

We slept crappy last night. The room is in the front of the guest house, which means it's closest to the street, which means we get the best view, but it also means we get all the road noise, and we're on a major street. Court had itchy feet and was scratching all night, and when we got cold in the middle of the night, we were fighting over the blanket, which wasn't quite big enough. Finally Court for fed up, got up, shut the fan off, close the window and grabbed her bed sheet from her backpack, and let me have the blanket. Everything was good after that.

We rented a motorbike and went to Tha Pom, a clean, natural swamp area and river. It was quite nice, but quite busy with locals, because of the weekend, so we didn't get a chance to swim. The way to Tha Pom goes through a lot of more rural areas (it's not on the main road), so we went through a lot of small towns and got a lot of stares. The local kids were very friendly, waving and saying "Hello" to us all the time. We got good stare from a really old fella, looked like he'd never seen a white person before. We got a good laugh out of it. He was probably wondering what the heck two whities were doing driving past his farm. Probably thought we were lost or something.

AFter our motorcycle ride, we got back and started figuring out or money situation. We found out, with the money we have in our bank accounts, we have to live on $19/day for the next 351 days for it to last. Hahaha, that kinda brought us back for a reality check. AFter finding that out, we decided to see if we can find some work in SE Asia as well (teaching english or whatever), or even volunteer work. We sent in applications to a few NGO's to do volunteer work in SE Asia. We'll see.

We got caught in a rain storm on our way back from Tha Pom on the motorbike. Raindrops hurt when you're going at 60km/hour, felt like hail stones.

We took our laundry in to a laundry service place, when we tried to do it ourselves, in a bucket, it wasn't coming out very clean. Even with the laundry service, my socks are still looking dirty. Oh well, it's a clean dirt.

AFter supper, we took our underwater camera in to get developed, then went for a long walk along the waterfront, Court and I talked about CAnadian geography, we stopped at a bakery and had dessert, then went back to the photo place to get our pictures. On the way back to the hostel, I stubbed my big toe on a piece of metal sticking out of the sidewalk, but it a little, when I bent over to take a look at it, my iPAQ fell out of my shirt pocket and crashed into the concrete. Both my toe and the iPAQ survived.

The underwater camera pictures didn't turn out as good as we had hoped. The ones of colorful fish leave didn't work too well, but the ones we took of ourselves doing stupid things underwater turned out pretty good.

Darren: Did you go to Lopburi when you were in Thailand? It's a town being overrun my monkeys, they swing from the shops, and have overtaken some other areas of town. I guess it's a big tourist draw now, and the locals have a huge buffet every November in Lopburi, just for the monkeys to pig out, in thanks for bringing the tourist dollars into the town. Court and I are gonna stop there, that should be a sight to see.

That's it for now.

P.S. Before I forget, from now on, I am going to update each day separately, instead of doing two or three days of journals in one update on Live Journal. So make sure you check the previous days' journal entries to make sure you get everything. Essentially, I'm going to backdate journal entries when I enter them.
